I like the texture of the African cloth with the linen and the chocolate paint brings out the colors in the cloth. It looks a million times better.

Goodwill Redo--African Cloth in Shadow Box
I wish I'd taken a picture of this before I started working on it. I bought it for $12.99 at the Goodwill. It had a black paper matting and a black shadow box frame. It was very dark with all that black and you couldn't really appreciate the African fabric. I already owned a piece of this fabric and I really love the way it looks, so I bought it. I took it apart and spray painted the frame expresso/chocolate brown. Then I covered the background board (which was black) with linen. I then centered the fabric on that. I spray painted the matting chocolate brown also and but the whole thing back together.
I like the texture of the African cloth with the linen and the chocolate paint brings out the colors in the cloth. It looks a million times better.
